They generally have high gable-roofs, either in single or superimposed layers. On the gable, decorative designs are always attached to both its edge and its end. At the gable edge, there are three gable meets the roof ridge is called the cho fa which literally means 'the sky bunch'. It represent the head of the garuda, a mythical bird in hinduism. The smaller finals pointing out from the two side corners are called the hang hong, which means the 'tail of a swan'
