The Δaco1 and Δaco1Δicl1 cells are growing slowly compared to wild-type cells.
Due to their defect in oxidative catabolism of non-fermentable carbon sources (e.g. ethanol), they are not able to enter the post-diauxic respiratory growth phase.
Except for its reduced post-diauxic growth, the Δicl1 growth profile resembled that of the wild-type reference strain.
Both Δaco1 and Δaco1Δicl1 growth profiles agree with the results obtained by Arikawa et al., 1999a and Arikawa et al., 1999b.
