The digital tourism ecosystem
According to the World Economic Forum, a digital media ecosystem consists of users, companies and government who converge in the space of IT, telecommunications, and media and entertainment industries. The concept describes the technology-mediated interaction between key entities and the technologies that support these interactions. We can apply this concept to tourism. A digital tourism ecosystem in composed of the interaction between living entities such as travelers, suppliers, intermediaries, governments and communities and the devices, connection, content and touch point. A digital tourism ecosystem can apply to a particular sector of the travel industry, to a specific destination or the global travel phenomenon.
