flowers The effects of BA on the vase life of cut ‘Kokucho’ dahlia flowers were investigated.
We modified the method to apply BA directly to petals by spraying instead of dipping them because a large amount of BA solution would be required for dipping whole dahlia flowers.
The vase life of cut dahlia flowers sprayed with 50, 100 and 500 M BA was significantly extended compared to the controls(Table 6 and Fig. 3).
Outer petals sprayed with BA tended to bereflective, like the straight cactus petal form. A pulse treatment with 100 or 500 M BA based on immersing the cut end of flower stems tended to shorten the vase life.
The amount of 50, 100 and 500 M
