Our Queen Regnant "
August is the month when all Thais celebrate the birthday of our beloved queen - Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the world's longest - serving consort. NJ takes a look back at the life of our "Queen Regnant" as well as consorts of the previous monarchs in Siam's Chakri Dynasty.
Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, formerly Mom Rajawongse Sirikit, is the daughter of His Highness Prince Chandaburi Suranath and Mom Luang Bua Kitiyakorn. She was born on August 12, 1932 in Bangkok,Thailand,attending
kindergarten at Rajini School and later studying at St. Francis Xavier Convent School. Here she started learning piano as well as English and French languages. During this period her father become Thai Ambassador to France, then
to Denmark,and Ambassador to the Court of St. James in England. As a result, Her Majesty continued her education in those three countries and subsequently in Switzerland.
