The poem is about a boy who initally seems to have settled into his new school. One night his parent(perhaps his mother though the poem does not make this point clear)comforts the child after a disturbed night's sleep. The child is worried about a friend of his from school"she hurts". The parent cannot comfort the child except to blandly say that the pain "will go in time
Rhymes are there, but inconsistent. Fits well in the mouth
when spoken aloud. We are left with the haunting question - who
had the ache, the child or Jessica?
I would be tempted to say it was a case of puppy love, but
wouldn't a five-year-old be too young to experience that emotion?
