Rania: Hey, Alan! How are you doing?
Alan: Oh…hi Rania! I’m doing well. Thank you. How about you? What are you doing here?
Rania: I’m fine. I’m here to check out the real estate expo at the city centre. I’m thinking about getting a new house.
Alan: For real? Why? I thought you moved into a condo just about half a year ago. Aren’t you happy about living there anymore?
Rania: Well, there’re too many problems about it. First, the walls are too thin. I can hear everything my neighbors are doing. It’s especially annoying when they turn on loud music at night or have a fight. I feel like I have never had a good sleep.
Alan: Sorry to hear that. Have you tried talking to them?
Rania: Far too many times! Besides the thin walls, the reason I want to get a new place is that the kitchen and the bathroom are too small. I have a problem with the kitchen, particularly. It seems that I have just enough room for making a sandwich.
Alan: That’s too bad.
Rania: The only good thing about it is that it is in downtown. It faces east and has great views of the city.
Alan: So what kind of a house that you’re looking for?
Rania: Well, a detached house with a lot of space around it would be perfect…The kitchen and bathroom should be three times larger than my current ones. There should be a comfortable living room with wooden floor and balcony where I can have my morning coffee and appreciate the beauty of my backyard. Oh…my backyard would be filled with green grass, colorful flowers and trees surrounded by a white picket fence.
Alan: Well, I bet a place like that would definitely cost one an arm and a leg.
Rania: Yeah, I know. I’m going to buy it on the installment plan.
Alan: Oh I see. As for me, my ideal home would be pretty much like the place I live in now but I’d like it to be in the countryside. I prefer a quiet life, you know. Its living room would face north, so it’s warm in the winter and cool in the summer.… Also, there would be really big windows with views of the mountains, like my old home in the north.
Rania: Wow! That sounds wonderful. Perhaps you should go to the expo too. The house of your dream might be on sale right now!
