Many of today's products and systems that we take for granted—electric lighting and transmission, sound recording and movies, to name a few—were either invented or developed by Thomas Edison. His prolific career can be investigated through his laboratory in West Orange, NJ, now operated as a National Historic Park by the National Parks Service. NPS archivist Leonard DeGraff puts Edison's accomplishments into context within his time as well as today.
