The results of our greenhouse study (Fig. 3 and Fig. 4) gave further confirmation that the type of N might be crucial as to which effect it will have on AMF growth. Two sources of organic N, one with high amounts of structural components such as cellulose (alfalfa) and one with more easily dissolved compounds (yeast extract) when added proportionally to their N content showed statistically indifferent effects on AMF growth (Fig. 3 and Fig. 4). Each of the two organic amendments also produced significantly increased AMF growth compared to the control treatment (Fig. 3 and Fig. 4).
