On April 29, 1965, the United State government informed the United Nation Security Council through the Secretary-General that on the previous day United State force had been sent to the Dominican Republic to protect American citizens and the OAS had been asked to consider the situation. On May 1 the Soviet Union requested an urgent meeting of the Security Council to consider the question of United State armed interference in the internal affairs of the Dominican Republic. The first series of Security Council meetings was held between May 3 and May 25.
