In particular, East Timor had to accede to Australian demands that delimitation negotiations be put on hold for a considerable period of time, accept
a comprehensive moratorium on claims which includes permanent provisions
on the inadmissibility of decisions by any international court or tribunal,
and accept that the question of the destination of the pipeline from Greater
Sunrise—and thus the location for lucrative downstream processing activities
will be decided by the Australian-led commercial consortium licensed
to develop the fields concerned. Furthermore, East Timor has also agreed
to restrict the resource-sharing agreement to Greater Sunrise rather than the
considerably more extensive area of overlapping claims that some commentators insist East Timor is entitled to
