In INDIA, some people meet everyday in laugh clubs. for 15 or 20 minutes in the morning, they all laugh together. Sometimes they laugh quietly. no one tells jokes. no one talks. they just laugh. why do these people laugh?
they laugh because it makes them feel good. Dr. Madan Kataria agrees. he started the first laughter club in Mumbai,India, in 1995. he belives that laughter is healthy. Many doctors agree with Dr. Kataria. when we laugh, we relax. we don't feel a lot of stress. this can be good for our health. At Dr. Kataria's laughter club, people do laughter exercise. First, they take saveral deep breaths. They very slowly. then say ho-ho ha-ha" together. they say it faster and faster. then, they start to laugh. there are many other kind of laughter exercise, too. in the silent laughter" exercise,people don't make any noise. In the "big laughter" exercise, everyone is very loud. In the "dancing laughter" exercise, everyone laughs and jumps at the same time. To day, there are laughter clubs in several countries in the world. More people are learning about the importance of laughter, and more people are laughing, too.
