Moisture content variation with drying time obtained from
the experiments and that predicted by the simulation models were then compared as
shown in Fig. 4, giving mean relative deviations of 1.0 and 1.8% for the mixedmode and indirect-mode dryers, respectively. The mean relative deviation gives an
idea of the mean departure of the measured data from the simulated data. The mean
relative deviation (MRD) as described by Sun and Woods [19] was used to estimate
the difference between the simulated results from the models and measured results
from the experiments
