1.2 Advantages of Installing a Milmeq Freezing Tunnel
Product Consistency
The cartons are individually frozen on shelves, and all cartons are exposed to identical airflow, temperature, and retention time.
Carton Shape
Bulk stacked carton freezing results in product compression and poor shape.
Labour Saving / Automation
The labour requirement for our automatic freezer is NIL. Coupled with a box erector and palletizer, a complete automated system is possible.
Considerable labour is required for bulk stacking (probably some form of open space stacking – then restacking for ultimate storage).
Space Requirement
Bulk stacked cartons require several days for appropriate freezing. When large volumes of cartons are produced per day the required space is significant. The Milmeq Freezing Tunnel is a relatively high-density freezer requiring space for only twenty four hours production.
Inventory Holding
Once again, individual shelf freezing enables your carton inventory to be considerably reduced.
1.3 Why you should install a Milmeq (First-In First-Out) Freezing Tunnel
Retention Time
Our tunnels are physically sized to hold product for the design retention time. Hence by design, all cartons must spend the necessary freeze time in the air blast.
Air Velocities
The Milmeq Tunnel is always full of product. Simultaneous loading and unloading ensures that all shelves are constantly fully loaded. This makes it possible to achieve consistent air velocities over all the cartons. Other types of tunnel that unload independently and at a faster rate than the production rate will leave many shelf levels empty for much of every day. Under these circumstances the circulating cooling air takes the path of least resistance and passes through the open empty levels. Very poor air flows will result over the remaining full levels. Variable time and conditions will determine variable quality product.
An investment in a Milmeq freezing tunnel is an investment in improved product quality.
With the Milmeq ‘First In/First Out’ all cartons can only be exposed to identical freezing conditions.
