After the data was collected by employing the interview method, I used the
following steps to analyze the data: First, I spent time to familiarize myself with and
understand the data by listening to the recording and transcribe the interview
transcripts. Second, I gave the interview transcript to participants for their approval,
thus avoiding any additions of the researcher’s ideas or own words (Seidman, 1998).
The last step was that after transcriptions were checked from participants, the answers
to each question were separated out and classified categories into their different
categories. The results were shown in table format by counting frequencies of
occurrence (of ideas, themes, words, and piece of data) to make it easy to understand
and the description was based on a qualitative data analysis method to show the
problems in using English of participants and which English skill needed to be
improved (Huberman, 1994).
