GABRIELLA CRESPI
Born in Milan in 1922, she grew up in Tuscany near Florence, where she developed her first love of nature. Throughout her life, Gabriella has been a designer, an artist: a brilliant creator of art pieces.
In the ’60s and ’70s she produced her best creations that furnish the homes of famous people among whom George Livanos, Thomas Hoving, Princess Grace, Gunther Sachs and the Shah of Iran. Gabriella Crespi has imposed on the international scene for her unique and peculiar point of view. The multi-functionality of Crespi’s furniture is a trademark. Her creations range from the ‘metamorphic’ tables, to libraries that become room partitions, the innovative seats convertible into beds, and her focus on nature translates in whole collections made of natural materials, in the creation of zoomorphic objects, silver or gold, with a real ostrich egg or hand-blown glass.
Always, in Crespi’s work one feels that ‘search for the infinite’, the theme to her whole existence.
