Linear sweep voltammograms on rotating tungsten disk electrode
(RDE-LSV) in HClO4 solutions supported by 0.5 mol dm3
LiClO4 (Fig. 1) display well defined limiting diffusion current plateaus
(jL), which obey an excellent linear relationship to the concentration
of H+ ions. In order to minimize amount of the oxide
present on the electrode surface, and obtain reproducible voltammograms
from very start of the recording, an initial cathodic polarization
at approx. 0.9 V was performed. To avoid surface oxide
formation, one should not exceed vertex anodic potential of
0.1 V. This recommendation was regarded in the experiments
presented in Fig. 1.
