finite element model to analyze the dynamic behavior of
tubular T-joints subjected to lateral impact loading was developed
in this paper. A series of tests conducted by the authors are presented
to provide information for validation of the FE model and to
investigate the failure and energy dissipation mechanism of tubular
T-joints under impact loading. A simplified calculation method is
proposed to assess the resistance of T-joint under impact loading.
From the results of this paper, the following conclusions may be
drawn:
