4) List and describe four alternative courses of action that may be taken and determine the likely consequences of each proposed action for every stakeholder identified. This should be a key focus of your analysis. It might be appropriate to consider a “do nothing” alternative (not necessarily the “right” choice) in a response.
1) Charge Jake Baker with premeditated violent crimes.
* This would result in the overall community returning to their normal lifestyles. Most importantly, the woman whom Jake talked about in his short story would not have to feel threatened for her life anymore and she would not have to deal with defamation of her character.
2) Do nothing, let Jake Baker continue expressing his thoughts
* This could result in more explicit short stories and then could slowly begin to involve more and more women; thus, keeping the people in the Ann Arbor community to remain on guard.
3) Allow the woman to obtain a restraining order on Jake Baker.
* This would allow the woman, Jake’s classmate, whom Jake wrote about to obtain a restraining order and allow her peace of mind. She would have court documents that would make Jake stay far away from her and allow her to feel safe on campus without any drastic expulsion measures.
4) Enforce a community watch in order for the citizens to protect themselves and each other.
* This would allow the citizens to create a community watch that allows everyone to watch out for one another. Even though the people in the community have to go an extra step on community policing, no one’s rights would be violated.
