I've only owned the D7000 personally so I can't really make a qualified recommendation. But, I will tell you just from having read many posts about the JVC that it's a fair bit darker than the Denon, but is said to have better bass. I don't remember what "better" means but a little searching should turn up some reviews.
The D7000 is fairly bright but not harsh or fatiguing. One great thing about the D7000 is that is so tunable. I used a partial Markl mod, and was really surprised at how much a little Dynamat changed them, for the better in my opinion. I like tight, accurate bass and the stock D7000 was fun bun it got old fast for me. It was only after I had spent a few months with the D7000 that I discovered that I just prefer open headphones. But then my music preferences probably have something to do with that.
The JVC was the other hp that I was looking at before I bought the Denons. And one of these days I hope to run across a pair at a meet, just to give them a spin.
