Homophone is very important the acquisition of a second language. Students can learn another language however; their mother tongue can affect the process of learning because the structure of each language is different. Ellis (1997:3) defined homophones are words that have the same sound but differ in meaning and spelling. The homophones sound alike but their orthography is different for example “rose” (flower) and “rose” (past tense of rise) as these words there are a variety of homophones. Homophones make students get confused when homophones are not known. Some homophones can be understood by people in a context, but learners can make spelling errors when they are learning homophones.
