LUNG FUNCTION ANALYSIS
Reproducible lung function data were available on 1043 (98-7%) of a total study population of 1057 operatives. There was no reason to suspect that the operatives who refused to be studied were significantly more impaired than those who agreed. There were small but significant differences in measured lung function between the sexes; mean (95% CI) PPFEVI in women 92-3 (90-5-94.1) and in men 90-6 (89-3-91 9), and similarly for PPFVC in women 98-2 (96 5-99 9) and in men 96-4 (95-2-97 5).
