The analysis showed that the students found teacher feedback useful in three ways: (1) as a source of knowledge about English academic skills and general knowledge; (2) as a source of motivation; and (3) as an indicator of their skill and development.
4.2.1 A source of knowledge about English academic skills and general knowledge
Having received the three types of feedback through English writing courses, four students in the study indicated that teacher feedback including oral and written forms made them more knowledgeable about academic English. Yaya stated, “I appreciated all types of feedback the teacher gave me” and also added:
The feedback is very useful, the most useful. I have learned more about what I have mentioned ‘the sentence structures’. This meant I have learned more than just being in the box. This, for me, was what the teacher completed me.
