Earthworms pronouncedly facilitated the decomposition process of fresh FVW, showing rapid decreases of electrical conductivity and total carbon and nitrogen from the 2nd week. The presence of earthworms promoted the microbial activity and bacterial and fungal populations, and modified the bacterial and fungal communities. Bacterial species, B. reticulotermitis, Sphingobacterium sp., Pectobacterium carotovorum, Aminobacter aminovorans and Actinobacterium and fungal species C. matritensis, M. alpine and A. oligospora, were flourished by the inoculation of earthworms.
