Today, institutions of higher education are obliged to
meet their students’ needs and ever-increasing expectations
to provide high-quality learning experiences
and results. They need to help their students develop
themselves as professionals who are able to deal with
real-world problems in complex and dynamic situations
in a rapidly changing society (Choi & Lee, 2009;
Shana, 2009). Therefore, apart from traditional teachteaching
models, institutions are in search of new measurable
approaches with the targeted goals to increase
students’ academic achievements and transfer of learning.
In the design of learning environments, different
learning objectives and outcomes need a combination
of various pedagogical and technological approaches.
Many instructors create learning environments through
multimedia and hypermedia and support their courses
with simulations, online exercises and immediate
online feedback (Delialioglu & Yildirim, 2007). The
effective integration of these tools into courses to meet
pedagogical goals introduces a new approach of
instruction as blended learning. Blended learning
presents an alternative method whereby online courses
will be effective without removing face-to-face learning
completely (So & Bonk, 2010; Young, 2002).
