According to the findings of the current study, the prevalence of breakfast
skipping among school going children aged 10-16 years old is 23.50 per cent in
selected areas of Udupi district. Other studies have reported that 20 per cent
of the children and 31.5 per cent of adolescents were breakfast skippers7
and
78 per cent of children usually had breakfast, but 22 per cent reported skipping
breakfast. Habits of skipping breakfast were observed among 41 per cent of
subjects in a study of lifestyle of adolescent girls in Chandigarh8
. Around 20–30
per cent of the children and adolescents skip breakfast in the developed world3
.
