6. So why do people talk about geographic information? There are a couple of good reasons. Geography does tend to deal with information and facts about the world and its inhabitants that are not likely to get as much attention from other basic areas of the curriculum—language, mathematics, history, science (or the arts and technologies, for that matter). On the other hand, as facts are organized around our fundamental geographical concepts, they do become geographical facts that are useful in developing meaningful generalizations about our world.
