When compared to the overhead transmission lines which
are only composed of conductors, subsea cables have much
more complicated structure. Their impedance is also more fre-
quency dependent, due to the presence of metallic layers. Since
cable networks are affected by many transient phenomena such
as, switching operations, frequent load changes, and harmonic
frequencies, a proper analysis of their electromagnetic transient
