Yamabushi Kunihiro was smithed during Horikawa Kunihiro’s (the blacksmith) time as a yamabushi monk. The tachi later became a treasure to the Ito Family of the Hyuuga Province. He has the words “Continued luck in fortunes of war” (武運長久) inscribed on his blade.
After the fall of the Ito family by the Shimazu clan, Yamabushi was hidden and taken by the loyal vassal Iida Sukeyasu. Whilst the remaining memebers of the Ito family stayed in hiding, Iida was planning the reconstruction of the family.
Yamabushi Kunihiro was later declared an important art object in 1932, but was promoted to an Important Cultural Asset in 1955. He is now kept in a private collection.
