PROCEDURE
l.Count out 50 dried beans of the variety assigned to you by your teacher.
2.Determine the mass of the beans by massing them in a small beaker
3.Pour about 40 mL water into a 100 mL grad uated cylinder. In your data table, record the exact volume of water
4.Add the beans to the water. being careful not to cause any of the water to splash out of the cylinder
5.Read the new volume and record in your data table.
6.Transfer the beans to a 100 mL beaker. Add enough water to fill the beaker Be sure you do not leave any beans in the graduated cylinder Label the beaker with your name and class period. Store the beaker in the location specified by your teacher
7.The following day repeat steps 2-5 with the beans that have soaked in water overnight. Be sure to remove as much water as possible from the surface of the beans before massing them
