are not at the point where we can run experiments on
them. Hence, our performance analysis is limited to readonly
queries, and we are not yet in a position to report on
updates. Moreover, RS does not yet support segments or
multiple grid nodes. As such, we report single-site
numbers. A more comprehensive performance study will
be done once the other pieces of the system have been
built.
Our benchmarking system is a 3.0 Ghz Pentium,
running RedHat Linux, with 2 Gbytes of memory and 750
Gbytes of disk.
In the decision support (warehouse) market TPC-H is
the gold standard, and we use a simplified version of this
benchmark, which our current engine is capable of
