There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops and bars in the Market area where you can opt out of the crowd and sit and enjoy a meal or a drink and watch the ebb and flow of shoppers.
The Sunday Market really comes alive after dark when all the street entertainers, musicians, puppeteers, Thai dancers, and bands start to perform; and all the coloured light are turned on. If you get sore feet wandering around, you can have a foot massage for 60THB ($2) for 30 minutes.
Not to be missed during your visit to the Sunday Market are two excellent temples. On the main street is Wat Phan Tao and down a side street is the impressive bulk of Wat Chedi Luang. Get there before dark to see them in good light.
The whole place has a very festive nature which makes the Sunday Market a must see thing to do on any visit to Chiang Mai, Thailand.
