This study uncovered additional information about the host range of C. bullita and the insect pest of O. sanctum in eastern India. The tingid bug C. bullita is a severe pest in southern India and has been reported to feed on O. sanctum (Dhanasekaran 2009). It was recorded in northern India for the first time on Ocimum (Butani 1982) and from Jharkhand state on O. basilicum (Kumar 2011). C. bullita is widely distributed and reported attacking O. kilmandscharicum and O. sanctum in India (Palaniswami & Pillai 1983). C. bullita is a serious pest of O. sanctum in Thailand (Tigvattnanont 1989) and also recorded from O. basilicum Linnaeus, O. sanctum, Coleus parviflorus and many other Lamiaceae plant species (Livingstone & Yacoob 1987).
