The oxyhalides of the chalcogens constitute a reactive and useful group of compounds. As expected,
the sulfur compounds have greater use, but SeOF 2 and SeOCl 2 are good solvents for many materials,
which has led to their use as nonaqueous solvents (see Chapter 10). The two most important types of
oxyhalides are the EOX 2 and EO 2 X 2 series, and Table 15.5shows a summary of relevant data for these
types of compounds.
