A vertically aligned TMF excites mainly a unidirectional axial
body force on a circular column filled with ametallic melt [24]. The
magnitude of the electromagnetic force increases with increasing
radial distance from the axis of the experimental arrangement. In
the laminar regime, an axisymmetric meridional flow is generated.
The fluid is pulled near the container wall in the same direction
as the TMF propagates. The liquid flow returns in the container
center where the body force is weaker. Thus, a toroidal flow is
induced in the meridional plane of the fluid vessel.
