FoodiEat is a free health application developed by the National Electronics and Computer Technology Centre (Nectec), in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, Mahidol University’s Institute of Nutrition, Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Ministry of Public Health.
The application records and calculates the calories consumed and burned each day, helping to create a balance between the body’s energy intake and expenditure.
The app will ask first-time users for personal information — date of birth, gender, body weight, height and waistline — which is used to calculate that person’s body mass index. After registration, users are required to enter information such what they typically eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A list of common dishes are available for selection and search, each with information regarding its amount of protein, fat, carbohydrates, sugar and sodium as well as how much energy (in kcal) the body selection and search, each with information regarding its amount of protein, fat, carbohydrates, sugar and sodium as well as how much energy (in kcal) the body receives from it.
Users are also required to keep a record of activities they participate in during the day such as driving to work, walking up stairs and cycling. This information will help calculate the amount of daily energy burned (also in kcal).
All information is presented in the form of a weight scale, with energy intake at one end and burned energy at the other, helping users maintain a proper balance between the two.
Information in the application is in Thai only.
