Leigh Occhi (13) disappeared during a turbulent time in Tupelo, Mississippi. It was August 27th, 1992, and the town had been recently hit by Hurricane Andrew. That’s why Leigh’s mother, Vicky Felton, said she got worried when her daughter, whom she’d left home alone for the first time, didn’t answer her phone calls. She had left around 7:30 am, and Leigh was fine. By 9 am, when Vicky went back home to check on her, she had been reported missing.
The reason why Leigh was reported missing so quickly was because of the state the house was in when Vicky arrived. The garage door was open and there were bloodstains on the walls, doorframe, carpet and bathroom. In the bathroom case, there were signs someone had tried to clean it up.
