For example, Au, one of the student in MUIC, live in Bangkae district, choose to go to The Mall Bangkae Department Store instead of Paragon Department Store because he does not have to wear proper cloths and he does not have to face with traffic in the city. From the example above, it can obviously see that the truth of Thai people is informal people. On the other hand, there is something that strongly different between American cultural values and Thai cultural values, which is the collectivism and individualism (Maynard, 2010). In general, individual person commonly means that a person separate from other person in any activity. From the information of the American cultural values, we can see that American people are strongly individual in the way they live, such as studying, eating, playing sport, traveling and so on. Unlike American, Thai people mostly do something that depends on other, for example, Au, wanted to have lunch, he will not go for a lunch alone, but he will find friends and let them think where to eat. Thus, these are similarities and differences between American cultural values and Thai cultural values, which are the informality and the individualism and collectivism. From the difference between these two cultures, some people may think that it would make a conflict and people from these two countries will have a difficulty stay together. However, I think that it is just a little conflict that helps us to learn and study other cultures in order to improve our own society in a good way.
