woody component have to be made at the present moment, benefits will
only accrue in the often uncertain future. It is largely for these reasons that
farmers need to be informed about yields (or reasonably quantifiable other
benefits) of woody perennials to be incorporated and thereby about the
economic viability of a given agroforestry system in comparison to a nonagroforestry
system.
