In male taught classes male student are more likely than female students to be directly questioned by the instructor (7.1 percent to 3.1 percent): In addition, men are twice as likely as female students (30.3 percent to 15.0 percent) to respond to a comment made by male teacher. In female taught classes the percentage of male and female responses are almost identical in each category under observation. Of interest here is the fact that female teachers are equally likely to directly question male and female students (12.8 percent versus 12.5 percent)
