essentialoils.Nophytotoxicitywasobservedonplantstreatedwiththeseessentialoils.First-instar

controls. Inno-choicetests,thecumulativesurvivalratesof B. tabaci females treatedwith T.vulgaris, P.
cablin and C. citriodora were46.4%,38.8%and26.8%lower,respectively,ascomparedwithcontrols.In
choice tests,themeannumbersofeggslaidon P.cablin,T.vulgaris and C. citriodora oil-treatedplants
were74.5%,59.0%and48.0%fewer,respectively,thanoncontrolplants.Basedonthisstudy,essentialoil
derived from T.vulgaris possessedthegreatestcontacttoxicity,while P.cablin oil exertedthestrongest
repellency to B. tabaci. Hence,thesetwooilscouldbeusedaseffectiveandenvironmentallysustainable
bio-insecticidesforthecontrolof B. tabaci.
