Heavy rain over the past few days has caused considerable damage to about 60-km length of the main roads under the purview of the Roads and Buildings Department across the district.
Potholes have surfaced at various stretches along the Khammam-Sattupalli main road under the impact of incessant rains over the past three days, according to official sources.
The National Highways passing through the district also developed potholes over a 32 km stretch in various parts of the district.
The roads falling under the purview of Panchayat Raj Department suffered damage at 43 places across the district.
Minister for Roads and Buildings T Nageswara Rao held a review meeting with the officials of various government departments here on Saturday to assess the damage caused by the latest spell of heavy rains in the district.
He directed the R&B Department officials to immediately carry out repairs to the roads damaged due to heavy rains.
The officials told the meeting that permanent repairs to the damaged roads will entail over Rs 30 crore expenditure.
Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, officials of the R&B, Panchayat Raj, Irrigation and other departments were present.
