Thus, the better effectiveness of the studied activities shown by the
crude DCM extract despite its lack of those bioactive polyphenols
could be attributed to the presence of some plant sterols especially
those compounds tentatively identified as 22,23-dihydrostigmas-terol and a cycloartane-type triterpene present only in the crude
DCM extract.
