3. Characterization
3.1. Laundry ageing
In order to study the durability of the finishes and highlight potential performance improvements from the plasma pre-treatment, repeated laundry cycles were identified as an artificial method to age the samples. The standard AATCC Test Method 61-2006 test number 2A [19] was carried out in a laundering machine by Atlas (USA) for rotating closed canisters. In the above method the chemical action of the surfactant combined with the abrasive action of the stainless balls contained in the canister along with the fabric specimens and the detergent solution. A single 45-minute laundry cycle corresponds to 5 domestic laundry cycles.
