The fluid grid system is the absolute best approach to responsive design and Journal 2 makes the best of this by giving you full control over your layouts with an exclusive feature called Items per Row.
The Items per Row editor allows you declare how many items you want displayed in a row and independently for each resolution. This applies to any grid item such as products at the category page or in modules like Carousel, Custom Sections, CMS Blocks, etc.
For example if you want to have 5 products per row on the desktop resolution drag the Desktop slider to 5. Say you want 3 on a tablet, drag the appropriate slider to that number and check the site on the particular device (or resize the browser) to see how it looks. The Large Phone is roughly the equivalent of a regular Phone in landscape mode, while the Phone setting represents a typical phone in portrait mode. The resolution in pixels is shown on the right and it indicates the available breakpoints. A breakpoint is where the grid breaks into less items per row. This is needed so the 5 grid items you have on desktop don't get squashed together on lower screen resolutions. The breakpoint tells the grid to push extra items on new rows below so they will look nice and even. This is where the Items per Row gives you absolute and full control over this process as you can now selectively declare how many products or banners you want per row independently for any module or menu column.
Look for the Items per Row editor in any grid module (Banners, CMS Blocks, Carousel, Custom Sections, Photo Gallery) and everywhere else there are column based elements (like in the Mega Menu or Footer menu).
