Q:Do you agree? The way a person is dressed in is a good indication of his/her character or personality.
People dress differently based on their culture, believes and preferences. There is a constant debate on whether an individual's dress indicates his or her character or personality. Supporters think appearance can predict a person's character while the objectors think that personality always comes from the inside. In my perspective, a person's dressing is not a good indication of his or her character or personality because dressing can give people delusion and personality can only predicted from the inside.
To begin with, dress can give people false impression. A man in brand new suit always give people decent impression while a man in a dirty out-of-date shirt makes people think that he is vulgar. However, when the two men change their clothes, the impression changes too. So the same man can have completely different impression just because of their dressing. Dressing is always about impression, and that impression can not indicate his or her personality. When our class monitor stood on the stage making speeches with his one-thousand-dollar-cost "Hugo Boss", everyone was impressed. People think he is a decent gentleman with a bright and straightforward personality. What they don't know is that he cheated his girlfriend dozens of times and he still needs his mother to wash his clothes.
Furthermore, people can only predict one's personality based on the inside: his or her lifestyle, talking manners, sense of honest and responsibility and so forth. In terms of one’s personality, people can say honest, responsible, generous and yet no one will say good-dressing or poor-dressing. I have a friend in high school who had the weirdest dressing in the world and every one called him "jerk". However, he was a kind man-he lent me his credit card when I used up mine, he lent me his bicycle when mine broke down. Therefore his personality cannot be predicted by his dressing or his pictures or any other outside characteristic and can only be measured by inside characteristics.
As demonstrated above, dressing does not indicate one's character or personality as it often gives people wrong impression and on the other hand personality can only be predicted by inside characteristics.
