You may remember just a few days back when we brought you news that Mario Balotelli was in with a genuine chance of winning Liverpool's Player of the Year award thanks to a campaign led by mischievous Manchester United fans to sabotage the official interactive poll on the Reds' website.
Faced with the very real possibility of having a shot-shy striker, who has managed just a few goals in a decidedly underwhelming debut season at Anfield, running away with their Player of the Year award, Liverpool were forced to take action.
Due to the outside interference, Liverpool cut their losses and removed Balotelli from the ticket entirely, leaving young fringe players like Jordan Rossiter, Jordan Williams and Danny Ward (who have amassed a grand total of zero Premier League starts between them this season) in with more of a chance of scooping the award than their £16 million marquee signing.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen, eh?
