RCTs of adjunctive group psychoeducation
programs demonstrated a longer time to recurrence,
fewer recurrences of any type, less time
acutely ill, and fewer days of hospitalization during
1–5 years of follow-up (158, 159). A 12-week
dyadic (patient–companion) group-based psychoeducation
program demonstrated significantly lower
relapse rates and a longer time to relapse
compared to treatment as usual during a 60-week
follow-up (160).
