Locate the medical apparatus in such a way that it is possible to radiate it from all sides (no persons or objects in the direct surroundings of the apparatus - especially not a metal testing table).
Check apparatus functionality; Record the settings;
Test person or simulator and/or patient phantom connected;
For ECG apparatus, an ECG simulator is used, or a volunteer test person connected.
For defibrillators a defibrillator tester is used, and for ventilators an artificial lung is used.
Search for the point in space furthest from the apparatus where it could just be disturbed (the so-called separation distance).
Note down all reactions of the apparatus (if any):
lamps that are flashing,
audible alarms,
display disturbances,
stops working
Where relevant, test the medical apparatus both powered from the mains and powered from the internal accumulator.
