Considering that the block copolymer is a better compatibilizer
for polymer blends, it is no doubt that the PLA-g-PBAT copolymer
can improve dramatically the compatibility of PLA and PBAT.
Coltelli et al.[13] elucidated that transesterification reaction occurred between PLA and PBAT in the presence of tetrabutyl titanate
during reactive melt compounding. In the present work, PLA and
PBAT blends at a fixed ratio of 70/30 with various TBT content were
prepared using twin-screw extruder. Mechanical properties and morphology of PLA/PBAT blend were characterized by tensile and
impact testing, DMA and SEM. The toughening mechanism was
also discussed
